THE HEAT

The heat: indicates the period in which the female accepts the male for the purpose of reproduction. Males do not have an estrus cycle (reproductive season), they are always receptive and available to mate.

In the cat, the first heats appear in spring after the 5th month, if the environmental and nutritional conditions are good. In Persian cats it appears after the 12th month of life. In the cat, the estrus cycle (reproductive season) is influenced by light (photoperiod), presenting a period of anaestrus (sexual rest) between September and January. Furthermore, it is an animal with provoked dehiscence, that is to say that the bursting of the follicle is caused by mating;

Heat:

- From the 5th to the 8th month of age
- 2/4 times a year
- Duration: 8-12 days
