WHAT CHARACTER DOES YOUR CAT HAVE? FIND OUT WITH THIS SIMPLE TEST

Our cats have different characteristics from each other. They have different personalities from cat to cat. There are cats: resourceful, shy, fearful, friendly, hostile, calm and nervous cats.

The high flexibility in the development of their personality is due to the numerous experiences that will live during the social transformation in the period of transition between childhood and adulthood. Our little friends pass from a group life in childhood to to become lonely as adults.

We, companions of our cats, can positively influence the character that our kittens will have once they reach adulthood.

The attitude to be sociable and magnanimous is mainly transmitted by the father. But fundamental, to achieve a beautiful feeling with your human, are the experiences that our cats have in the very early stages of their life.

We can understand and code the character of our little feline based on general behavioral characteristics:

- Active
- Curious
- Wary
- Wary of people
- Tense
- Solitary

and using this interesting TEST (taken from Feaver's test).

It is essential to have a good understanding of common cat behaviors to know if your cat is above average, average or below average.

First of all, for each of the behaviors described in the following, give your cat:

0 points: If he repeats the behavior in question a number of times lower than the average of the other cats.
1 point: if it is on average
2 points: if it is above average

a) active (moves quite frequently)
b) Curious (He approaches and explores a change in the environment)
c) Sociable with people (gets close to people and / or comes into contact with them)
d) Wary of people (runs in retreat or hides in the presence of people)
e) Hostile to people (reacts by threatening and / or attacks if approached)
f) Tense (shows inhibition in movements and posture)
g) Uniform with other cats (reacts to other cats impartially and calmly, rarely upset)

Now we need to combine these scores into three categories:

1. Add the scores obtained from points a) and b) = V (Vigilant)
2. Add up the scores obtained from points d), e) and f)
3. Write the score obtained from point c)
4. Add 6 units to the score obtained in step 3
5. Subtract the score of point 2 from that of point 4 = S (Sociable)
6. Write the score of point g) = U (Uniform)

A score greater than or equal to 3 for V.
A score greater than or equal to 5 for S
Equal to 0 for U
Corresponds to a psychological profile of the "authoritarian" cat

A score less than or equal to 1 for V.
A score less than or equal to 3 for S
Equal to 0 for U
Corresponds to a psychological profile of the "shy" cat

A score greater than or equal to 3 for V.
A score greater than or equal to 5 for S
Equal to 2 for U
Corresponds to a psychological profile of the "tolerant" cat
