CATS AND FLEA INFESTATIONS

If your cat has a flea infestation, he will tend to scratch repeatedly. If the infestion is massive, it can also manifest alopecia in the lumbar region, near the attachment of the tail and, following scratching, abrasions, skin exudation and scabs. Usually we find the flea problem mainly from March to September, but since the temperatures have risen it is advisable to pay attention to this problem throughout the year, taking care to protect our cats with specific products. If we prevent the problem we will not have the problem and its consequences.

It should be borne in mind that, even if fleas cannot be seen, it is possible to find their droppings on the belly, which appear in the form of black dots. In addition, flea saliva contains allergens that can cause an immediate and sometimes delayed hypersensitivity reaction.

In this case it is good to carry out an antiparasitic treatment, asking your veterinarian for the appropriate product and taking care to administer it in an appropriate place, in order to prevent fleas, leaving the animal's body due to the effect of the substance. toxic to them, they can nest in the interstices of shared environments such as sofas, beds, armchairs, etc. In case you notice the presence of a tick, it is necessary to pour oil or alcohol over it (in order to occlude the respiratory system), wait a few minutes and then proceed with the extraction with tweezers that will be used with rotary movement.

When you have an animal, it is a good idea to prevent parasite infestations by using specific repellent products (collars, sprays, spot-ons) that can be recommended by your trusted veterinarian and which, however, should not be abused, because they could be toxic for the patient.
Parasitosis should not be underestimated thinking that they are only a source of discomfort and annoyance for the animal, as they also represent a vehicle for diseases and worms.
